All-In at Acara: Han Tang

Han Tang is a true success story. Emigrating from Vietnam with her mother at the age of three, Han’s strong work ethic and passion for learning helped her land her position at Acara.

In the latest edition of our “All-In at Acara” series, learn how Han Tang plays a pivotal role in not only the day-to-day happenings of the talent acquisition industry but in the building and maintenance of large client relationships at Acara.  Her motto? “Their success is my success.”

Early years in tech

I was born in Can Tho, Vietnam, and emigrated to America through the Homecoming Act at the age of three. My mother and I started our life in San Jose, California and I have resided here ever since. In fact, I will be graduating from San Jose City College with my associate’s degree in business administration this upcoming summer.

For the first five years I was employed, I worked for a technology company that specialized in hardware manufacturing. This is an industry that is continuously evolving—new technologies are constantly being developed—so new products serving different purposes are always being introduced. Every project that I worked on during my time there was completely different. Despite the challenges I may have faced in this role, I know that it prepared me to be successful at Acara.

When Veronica Toledo reached out to me regarding an open position at Acara, I knew this was an opportunity that I wanted to explore. The way the company’s mission and culture were described to me—in combination with the industry preparation I received in my previous job—I was eager to join the Acara team.

Role of an Acara account executive

On a day-to-day basis, my main responsibilities include reaching out to new prospective clients to determine the strategies they are using to optimize their hiring process. I also educate them on the ways that Acara can assist their organization to find more success throughout their hiring process. Our work here at Acara is two-fold. We are enhancing our clients’ lives by helping them to find a job they are passionate about and placing them within a company where they will find success. Moreover, we are also making a meaningful impact on the economy by acting as the bridge to permanent employment for those who are unemployed or looking to change careers.

Like any job, there are certainly challenging days in the office. However, I am used to facing these challenges with both patience and determination. There are many times I must think outside the box so that my team and I can meet our client’s unique requests and schedules. Internally, my team and I must simultaneously account for and work around the client’s budgetary concerns and general needs. The supportive, engaged, and caring company culture at Acara makes facing and overcoming these challenges possible.

A love for the industry

I truly look forward to going into the office each day. We have an amazing view of Silicon Valley to admire from our windows. I am extremely detail-oriented, so I often make lists of the tasks that need to be completed to meet and exceed my goals. I know that coming into the office, I will be able to focus on the work that I need to do. I am lucky to be part of a tight-knit and supportive group. Knowing that the work I am doing is making a meaningful impact on people’s lives is so rewarding and not something that everyone can say about their line of work. Having such excitement for the industry has only pushed me to be even more passionate about achieving success.

When I am not working

Currently, I am still in school which keeps me busy outside of work. I will finish my final courses in December of 2022 and am really looking forward to my graduation in May! Despite my already busy schedule, I am also a huge gamer, so I make sure to be available to play a variety of games such as SIMS and Call of Duty. Something a lot of people do not know about me is that I used to be a video game streamer on Twitch and Facebook. I am also a self-proclaimed foodie. I believe food is a universal language and to truly understand a culture, you should taste it! One day, I hope to travel the world immersing myself in diverse cultures through their food. But for now, I spend my free time trying new restaurants in the area.
